Santa Luzia, renowned nationally and internationally for excellence in profile and covering design, is the largest polystyrene recycler in Latin America.
Since starting our recycling operations in 2002, we have transformed over 87,000 tons of polystyrene (Styrofoam®), our primary raw material, into high-quality products.
As a result, 96% of our products contain recycled materials. See below how we evolved from a small mirror factory to become a leading profile and covering supplier in Brazil while making the world a better place.
In 1942, in the city of Braço do Norte (SC), a small industry was born, called Espelhos Santa Luzia — named after the patron saint of vision — the result of the dedicated work of Mr. João Effting.
Following in his father’s footsteps, his eldest son, Heriberto Effting, also joined the company with an entrepreneurial and innovative vision.

Starting in 1996, the company expanded its presence in the Brazilian market and changed its legal name to Indústria e Comércio de Molduras Santa Luzia Ltda.
This change allowed for the production and sale of decorative profiles, serving the construction, architecture, and decoration markets, as well as the furniture and wooden frame industries.
Pioneering and Revolution in the Industry
For over 60 years, the company exclusively used wood as its raw material, but in 2002, Santa Luzia took a leap forward.
That year, the entire production process was revolutionized, and the company became the first in the industry to implement and master EPS recycling technology, also known as Styrofoam or polystyrene.
